The state of Washington, among others has changed their residential land use code to allow for multiple homes on one residential lot. In the past "single family" zoned lots meant you could only put one home on one residential lot and if you wanted to add more housing you had to go through the long risky process of subdividing larger lots into smaller lots while updating public roads and infrastructure to allow for more homes to be built.
With the strong migration growth into the Puget Sound area, and a lack of supply of housing, the state of Washington has declared that we are in a housing crisis. Due to this declaration the state has passed legislation to allow for multiple homes to be built on a single residential lot for the missing middle housing types. These home types include, townhomes, cottages, duplex's, triplex's, quadplex's, accessory dwelling units, and stacked flats.
We at Liberty Investments have been building higher density middle housing projects in the areas that would allow for it prior to the states legislation being passed. Now that this is a state wide land use code change, there is a lot more opportunity available not only for us, but for you too!!
